Rent With Confidence

When looking for a property in the Midlands, you should always check to see if they are accredited - to protect yourself from landlords or letting agents who have not been property trained or who do not commit to good practices.

The Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme (MLAS) is managed by Homestamp with the primary focus of accrediting professional landlords and agents across the Midlands.

The University of Birmingham will only ever advertise properties on Birmingham Studentpad if the advertiser is accredited with MLAS, so if you do look for a property on another website always make sure you check if the lettings agent and/or landlord is listed on the MLAS website.

Being accredited with MLAS ensures that landlords and letting agents have been on training and signed a code of conduct which commits them to a number of good letting practices.

You can refer to the list of landlords HERE and the list of accredited letting agents HERE.
