A Great Day for Accreditation At The University of Birmingham!

The first ever Midland Landlord Accreditation award ceremony was held at The University of Birmingham in the great Hall on the 29th October 2007 where the first 250 landlords were invited to receive their certificates from Councillor Randall Brew OBE, The Lord Mayor of Birmingham. This prestigious event marks the culmination of a joint effort between The University of Birmingham, Homestamp, The Guild of Students, Birmingham City Council, West Midlands Fire and Police Services and the National Landlords Association working with Landlords and Letting Agents to improve standards of living within the private rented sector.

If you are a landlord or Letting Agent renting in the Selly Oak area, have you come along to the seminar here at the university yet to become accredited?

If you are a student renting in the Selly Oak area, have you checked to see whether your landlord or Letting Agent is accredited?

Our aim is to provide landlords with not only the relevant information that would keep them up to date with legislation and regulations but also to help them run their business to the benefit of both themselves and their customers, the tenants. We hope that by doing so we will marginalise those landlords who are not prepared to put in the effort to keep their tenants happy and who do not work within the law.

So far, the response to the scheme has been overwhelmingly positive with approximately 250 landlords coming through our doors to get involved. The feedback we have received says that they have come away feeling very positive about the opportunities and possibilities now available to them.

"An excellent and informative day. I have learnt a lot…"

So, if you are a landlord and you have not yet booked a date on our seminar then please get in touch with MLAS on 0212 288 2008 or at  talk@mlas.org.uk as soon as possible so we can start to work together to provide safe, clean houses for students and stress-free letting for you.

If you are interested in joining MLAS and attending the one day development seminar you can book online here at www.mlas.org.uk

And, if you are a student looking for somewhere to live make sure you check to see if your landlord is accredited, because it will make your time spent renting all the more relaxed and enjoyable.

From January 2008 Birmingham Studentpad will only be accepting landlords who have attended and been certified on the Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme and the London Landlord Accreditation Scheme.
